In September and October of 2021, the Secretary of State’s office conducted ballot reviews in Butte, Camas and Bonner County. Both Butte and Camas County are ‘hand count’ counties, meaning they do not use tabulation machines to count the votes. Bonner County, however, does use tabulation machines. The hand count done in Bonner County was the first public review of a 2020 election result where a hand count of ballots was compared to the tabulated totals by machines.
